Crystal Palace Injury Update Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Liverpool head to Selhurst Park on Saturday to take on Crystal Palace in what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the weekend. The Premier League champions have made a flawless start to the new campaign, while Oliver Glasner’s side are quietly building momentum of their own.

Palace form and unbeaten run

Crystal Palace have been resilient under Glasner, taking nine points from their opening five matches. Two wins and three draws leave them in fifth place, and confidence will be high after extending their unbeaten streak to 17 games in all competitions with a 2-1 victory at West Ham.

What makes the Eagles such tricky opponents is not only their solidity but also their recent record against Liverpool. While Arne Slot’s side sit top of the table with five wins from five, they have found Selhurst Park an uncomfortable venue in the past. Palace have lost only two of their last seven meetings with Liverpool across all competitions, including their penalty shootout triumph in the Community Shield following a 2-2 draw at Wembley.

Pino concern for Palace

Injury news could dampen the mood in South London, particularly with summer signing Yeremy Pino a doubt for Saturday. The winger was withdrawn at half-time in the win against West Ham, raising questions about his availability.

Glasner explained the situation after the game: “He had pain in his knee. We don’t know exactly what it is, so we’ll assess him tomorrow, and I think we’ll have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious, but he couldn’t continue playing.”

Pino has impressed since arriving from Villarreal, starting the last three league games. His pace and creativity would be a significant miss if he fails to recover in time.

Returning options boost Glasner

While Pino’s situation is a concern, there is better news elsewhere. Adam Wharton returned to the starting eleven against West Ham following a groin problem, adding stability in midfield. Ismaila Sarr, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, is expected back in training this week and could be included against Liverpool.

Goalkeeper Walter Benitez is still unavailable, and long-term absentees Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad remain sidelined, but the potential return of Sarr provides attacking depth at a crucial moment.

Liverpool prepared for stern test

Liverpool may be the reigning champions and unbeaten in the league under Slot this season, but they know Palace have a habit of unsettling them. Selhurst Park has produced some intense contests in recent years, and with the Eagles buoyed by form and belief, it represents another test of Liverpool’s resolve.

For Palace, even with injuries affecting selection, the chance to measure themselves against the champions is an opportunity to reinforce their growing status under Glasner. For Liverpool, maintaining their perfect start will require focus, discipline and the ability to cope with a Palace side that rarely makes life easy.
