Crystal Palace ‘to prepare’ £17m bid for Jayden Oosterwolde after Lacroix sale | OneFootball

Crystal Palace are weighing a move for Fenerbahçe defender Jayden Oosterwolde as they look to replace Maxence Lacroix, sold to Chelsea for £52m.

According to Sabah, Palace have made contact and are preparing a bid of around €20m (£17.1m), with Fenerbahçe open to a sale to help manage foreign-player limits.

Oosterwolde, who joined from Parma in 2023, is a regular starter. He made 41 appearances last season and played the full 90 in both legs of a recent Champions League qualifying win over Górnik.

AS Roma are also reported to be interested and have spoken with the player’s representatives. No formal offers have been lodged, but bids are thought to be imminent and Palace may hold a financial edge.

The 25-year-old can operate at left-back or on the left of a back three, a role that could dovetail with Pierre Sage’s recent friendlies, where Jaydee Canvot has featured on the right and Chris Richards centrally, with Chadi Riad as cover.

Composed in possession, press resistant and an assured passer, Oosterwolde fits the ball-playing brief and can fill in at left wing-back. He can be rash in the tackle, however, and collected 11 bookings and two red cards in the Super Lig last season. He is a little over a year removed from an ACL recovery, so any medical may carry added caution.

With two years left on his contract, whether €20m will be enough remains unclear. If Palace do get him, it could be a relatively low-cost gamble to plug a major gap.
