Cuca addressed whether Neymar and Gabigol can start together for Santos after the 2-0 win over Coritiba at Couto Pereira, saying selection depends on each match.

According to Diario Do Peixe, in back-to-back victories over Red Bull Bragantino and Coritiba, Gabigol began on the bench and replaced Neymar in the second half. Cuca insisted this pattern does not mean he will sideline either forward.

The coach said he is chasing stability, pointed to firm displays away to San Lorenzo with both involved, and stressed chances could arise for them to play together. He highlighted improvements in passing rhythm and ball speed, noting fewer attempts but greater accuracy on the night.

Neymar and Gabigol lead Santos for direct goal involvements this season. Gabigol has 13, with nine goals and four assists, while Neymar has 10, with six goals and four assists.

Cuca reflected that performances were competitive during a seven-match winless spell that ended on Sunday, including draws away to Palmeiras, San Lorenzo and Bahia. He said a full ground saw an even contest and another victory.

He added that wins lift confidence during a demanding schedule, reported two muscular injuries in the squad, and said rotation will be required.

Santos are through to the Copa do Brasil round of 16 and will wait for the next draw in the second half of the year. They face Coritiba again on Sunday at 11h Brasília time at Neo Química Arena in the 16th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
