As reported by as.com, the Cultural-Athletic Copa del Rey last-16 tie scheduled for today, Tuesday, has been classified a high-risk match by the Permanent Commission of the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport. Deportivo-Atlético de Madrid has also been designated high risk, prompting changes to ticketing and security.
The León club will not open its ticket windows this afternoon, so Tuesday sales are limited to 10:00 to 14:00, although online purchasing remains available. Even so, the stadium is expected to be near a sell-out after strong uptake from Cultural members collecting the required supplements.
The government decision has surprised the club and, especially, its supporters. Across this special week the Reino will be surrounded by security measures.
Saturday’s league game with Sporting has also been classified high risk.
A large away following is not expected at either fixture, given Cultural’s limited ticket allocation. Spectators from both clubs will mix in several areas, and police will deploy a significant reinforcement of officers to prevent incidents.
