FLW's West Brom fan pundit has picked out the in-form winger as being the Leeds player Albion should fear most this weekend.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
West Brom travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United for a huge clash in the Championship on Saturday, and our Baggies fan pundit has picked out a red-hot winger in Dan James as the player Albion will be fearing the most.
The Baggies have endured some inconsistent performances of late, with four wins from their 10 league games in 2025 so far.
Tony Mowbray's side are firmly embroiled in the play-off dispute, with themselves and Blackburn Rovers in sixth, both sitting on 51 points, with the in-form seventh-placed Coventry City just a point behind on 50.
Albion have some massively important fixtures coming up over the next few weeks, with Burnley, Norwich, Sunderland, Bristol City, Watford and Coventry all still to come, but first, they must head to West Yorkshire to take on Daniel Farke's Leeds this weekend.
The Whites have an embarrassment of attacking riches from which they can hurt teams with, but there is one player in particular that our Baggies fan pundit is fearing the most.
We asked our West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess: 'Which Leeds United player are you most fearful of coming up against this weekend?'
Burgess said: "You'd probably have to say Dan James will be the Leeds player that Albion will fear most on Saturday afternoon.
"We aren't blessed with the most amount of pace, especially with Semi Ajayi being ruled out. That's a lot of speed taken out of the backline.
"He's (James) definitely got very impressive goals and assist numbers this season. I think that in the Championship, James has been a proven player where he can make the difference on his day, and he's not afraid to have a shot on goal either."
Few teams have been able to cope with James in recent weeks, as the Welsh international is without doubt one of the hottest wingers in the Championship at the moment.
The 27-year-old has provided seven direct goal contributions in his last five league games, and this week, it will be the task of Baggies left-back Callum Styles to try and pour cold water on Leeds' flying winger.
As tough a task as it will no doubt be, Styles will fancy himself. The 24-year-old Hungarian international has been in excellent form of late himself, putting in some stout defensive performances.
He may well require his best display of the season so far at Elland Road, and if he produces it, then it could provide Albion with the platform to take points off the league leaders.
