Daniel Banjaqui could be set for another standout week at Benfica, having already impressed under José Mourinho.

According to Glorioso 1904, he was among Benfica’s leading performers against Inter Milan in the UEFA Youth League in recent days, and a fresh inclusion in Portugal’s under-21 squad.

He is also hoping for another senior call-up under Mourinho, with Amar Dedic suspended for two matches.

An under-17 world champion, Banjaqui has been selected by Luís Freire alongside fellow Benfica players André Gomes, Gonçalo Moreira and Rodrigo Rêgo. Portugal face Azerbaijan and Scotland, and a debut at this level is in his sights.

Another landmark could follow on 24 March, when he turns 18. Benfica may formalise a new deal within days, mirroring Anísio Cabral’s renewal on 16 February.

Valued at €5 million, he has played 26 official matches this season, 13 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in Liga Revelação, two in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,747 minutes he has produced one goal and five assists.
