Daniel Farke has named an unchanged Leeds United side to face Sunderland, with James Justin and Joe Rodon fit after weekend knocks. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, both start at Elland Road.
The pair were withdrawn in the 87th minute of the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City, Rodon with hamstring discomfort and Justin after an ankle blow that needed stitches. On Monday Farke said Rodon was expected to make it, with Justin a slight doubt, and hoped he would be fine.
Noah Okafor remains out tonight as he recovers from the hamstring injury sustained at Birmingham City in last month’s FA Cup tie. He was initially thought to face two to four weeks out.
Sunderland are already missing six first-team players and have lost first-choice keeper Robin Roefs to injury. January signing Melker Ellborg starts in goal, while captain Granit Xhaka is on the bench as his minutes are managed after a recent return.
Leeds United starting XI: Darlow in goal, then Bogle with Rodon, Justin and Struijk, Gudmundsson alongside Ampadu, Gruev and Stach, Aaronson supporting Calvert-Lewin. Bench: Perri, with Bornauw, Bijol and Longstaff, then Tanaka, James and Gnonto, plus Nmecha and Piroe.
Sunderland starting XI: Ellborg in goal, O’Nien, Ballard, Alderete and Hume, then Geertruida, Diarra and Sadiki, with Angulo and Le Fee behind Mayenda. Bench: Moore, Rigg, Jenson Jones, Harrison Jones, Isidor, Traore, Talbi, Xhaka and Aleksic.
