Daniel Farke has mapped out a restrained January for Leeds United, with loans likelier under PSR limits and an emphasis on character as well as quality. According to Leeds Live, the club are active within their means and, midway through the month, have made no signings.
A sale could alter the picture, or any spend might be offset by June 30. The search is set to lean towards attackers, though nothing is being ruled out.
Danilho Doekhi is of interest but there has been no progress so far, with much of the noise appearing agent-led. It would still be a surprise if nobody arrived before the deadline and there remains time to act.
Farke says any addition must be affordable and improve the group, and he does not foresee a major turnaround. After the 0-0 draw with Liverpool on New Year’s Day, he made clear this is not a window for 10 exits and 10 arrivals. He views squad cohesion as central to their survival effort, just as it was in last season’s title push.
He has also underlined how awkward January can be, since targets may be short of minutes or returning from injury, while in-form players are often overpriced. That is why he is particularly picky this month.
Two months ago his position looked uncertain, yet Leeds are now eight points clear of the drop with momentum. The club will explore sensible reinforcements to safety-proof key areas without upheaval. Under Farke, only Connor Roberts has arrived mid-season, on loan, and a recent switch to 3-5-2 also frames recruitment.
