Danjuma staked a claim for another chance at Valencia by scoring twice in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Derby County in England. According to AS, there has been talk that Corberán does not count on the Dutch forward and that he might need to find a club with the season a few weeks away.

He has not spoken publicly about his future, preferring to let those goals speak in pre-season.

What comes next remains to be seen. As in several summers at Villarreal, he again has to win back a place lost during last season.

He signed a three-year deal last term, arriving as a star and taking the number seven shirt, a historic number at Valencia. After a bright start, he lost his place and became a bit-part option.

He wants this year to be different if he stays. He worked hard over the holidays to be at peak fitness, but discomfort kept him out of the friendlies against Eldense and Castellón. His return brought that brace, and it remains to be seen whether Corberán offers him another opportunity.
