Kevin Danso says Spurs are in a “transition period” under Thomas Frank – and stressed that patience and positivity are needed following a tough start to the season.

Tottenham currently sit 13th in the Premier League and have the fourth worst home record in the division so far this season.

Frank became Tottenham boss this summer, replacing Ange Postecoglou, who won the Europa League but also finished 17th in the Premier League.

In an interview with Hayters, Danso was asked about what has changed under the Dane: “I think a lot. I think you see how we play. Especially away from home at the beginning of the season we were very good.

“I think it’s just a transition period. So, of course, there’s going to be some not so good games, but I think all in all, we’re on a good track and we want to stay positive, be positive and end the season well.”

The Austrian also explained how important the focus on improving defensively has been under Frank.

“I think seeing some of the games I’ve played in, we’ve been defensively strong,” he said. ” I feel like people always say defence wins seasons, attack wins games, that’s what we’re looking to do.”

One thing that has definitely changed at Spurs since Frank came in to Spurs this season is their attitude to set-pieces.

When asked about set-pieces earlier in the season, Frank said: “This season I have seen a crazy peak in it. I like it.

“Whatever you can do to create an advantage, extra threat, you need to look into it. You can talk about styles but I’m looking at maximising the opportunity to score goals.”

Danso has been Spurs’ primary long throw taker this season and he explained the extra edge Spurs can gain from them.

“I’ve always kind of had it in the locker,” he said. “At the beginning of the season, we had a little throw-in competition and I had the longest throw.

“It’s a weapon. It’s another way to cause teams problems and that’s why we use them. Lucas Bergvall has got a long throw-in as well. There’s a couple of us and I feel like it’s just a way to create chances, create opportunities.”

Kevin Danso was speaking at North Enfield foodbank, where he made a delivery of essential items donated by the club ahead of Christmas.
