Nice captain Dante, 42, will retire on 30 June and is seeing out a final well-paid deal.
According to L'Équipe, he earns around €90,000 gross a month, close to the squad’s top 10, with incentives that could lift it to €120,000 or even €130,000 based on appearances.
His game time has fluctuated. From August to November he played one or two matches a month across Ligue 1 and the Europa League, then none in December.
Known as Pai, he started four times across January and February. With Nice 15th in Ligue 1, he pushed himself to help a club he joined a decade ago.
After the 0-4 defeat to Rennes on 8 March, he said there was a little over two months left, that they were on a mission, and that, regardless of his knees, if they gave way then so be it.
Before the PSG match on 21 March, which ended 0-4, he received a tribute featuring a giant tifo and a banner that read “Thank you capi”.
Having obtained his coaching badges, he could step into management once his playing days end.
