Romeo Lavia is close to his latest return from injury, and will be back in full team training very soon, with first team minutes to follow.

This week Chelsea have had the first midweek without a game since Liam Rosenior took over, and the new manager decided to give the majority of his group a well deserved break of four days.

But for some others, the work continued. Kieran Gill’s piece for the Daily Mail claims that Romeo Lavia is still at the training ground working on the final days of his rehab session.

The main group had their first training session after the break today, and while Lavia won’t have been with them for the duration, it seems like it’s a matter of days before he’s a full participant. The Blues have eight games to play before the March international break, and while Lavia might not be fit to start in them, we’d certainly expect he’s ready for some sub minutes in the next month.

The Daily Mail piece also has some interesting stuff on the Be Your Best VR technology which Lavia has been using to prepare himself mentally for a return while the physios prepare him physically.

We’re all hoping this will allow him to shake off the rust a little faster when he does make his return. There is still a shortage in central midfield, and we could use him as a sub as soon as he’s given the green light.
