West Ham won 3-0 against Leeds United at the London Stadium, but they also needed Everton to win at Tottenham Hotspur to stay in the top-flight.

However, Spurs triumphed courtesy of Joao Palhinha’s 42nd-minute winner, confirming the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.

Moyes was clearly disappointed that his team couldn’t help West Ham.

He told BBC Match of the Day: “I’m really sad for them because there are a lot of great people who work behind the scenes there.

“A long part of the season, we weren’t sure if it was Nottingham Forest, West Ham or Tottenham – I thought all three were too strong to go down.”

With relegation confirmed, West Ham are now under pressure to raise more than £100 million in player sales.

They could look to offload several key players in the summer transfer window.

Academy star Jarrod Bowen has been a consistent performer, but his future at the club is in doubt after relegation.

Mateus Fernandes was a shining light in a dismal season. The 21-year-old featured in 35 Premier League games, bagging three goals and four assists.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing him.

United are monitoring El Hadji Malick Diouf, while Crysencio Summerville will also have no shortage of suitors.

Tomas Soucek, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo could all look to exit the club this summer.
