A key Sheffield Wednesday figure has admitted it will be difficult to keep hold of an in-demand midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday are set for an interesting summer ahead, as they look to rebuild both on and off the pitch ahead of their 2026/27 League One campaign.
The Owls have had plenty of off-field problems caused by former owner Dejphon Chansiri, which included an 18 point deduction, which made a tough season even more difficult earlier this term.
Sheffield Wednesday had their relegation from the Championship confirmed back in February, and since then, they've been playing purely for pride.
The Hillsborough faithful have shown plenty of that themselves this term, as they continue to sell out away ends up and down the country, which is hugely impressive given the situation that their side have been in.
They remain winless at Hillsborough this season, and will be desperate to pick up a morale-boosting three points in their final game of the campaign this weekend, as they host West Brom.
Plenty of players are likely to depart as they prepare for life in League One, and with incoming owner, David Storch set to take charge of proceedings off the pitch, it's seemingly a fresh start for everyone associated with the club.

One player that could be heading for the Hillsborough exit door this summer is fan favourite, Svante Ingelsson. Not much would have been known about the former Swedish youth international when he first arrived at Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2024, but he's certainly gone on to make a name for himself for all the right reasons.
The 27-year-old has won three Player of the Month awards at Sheffield Wednesday this term, and has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Owls this term.
It appears as though his strong showings haven't gone unnoticed though, with the Yorkshire Post recently reporting that Stoke City are one of the latest teams to register their interest in striking a deal for the midfielder.
Ingelsson is contracted with Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the 2025/26 season, but the club do hold an option to extend that deal by a further year.

Sheffield Wednesday boss, Henrik Pedersen has recently issued an update on the club's efforts to keep Ingelsson at Hillsborough for the foreseeable future, and admitted it would be 'difficult' to retain his services.
“Of course there are clubs who are interested in Svante, he has been one of our top, top players this season. But I also know that Sheffield Wednesday has gone into the blood of Svante, and he really loves to be here. And we will do everything to keep him, because he is one of our culture players, and most important culture player, so of course he will be important and a very important part of our identity also in the future.
“Of course it will be difficult, but there are a lot of things that are difficult - that does not mean that it's not possible. We just have to use our potential and do all that we can, and then also have a good feeling that we can extend and do something with Svante.”
Pedersen is clearly a fan of Ingelsson as well, which will be pleasing to hear for the Sheffield Wednesday supporters heading towards the summer, but his future will seemingly very much depend on which clubs are interested in landing his signature.
Preston North End and West Brom were previously keen on a deal to sign Ingelsson during the January transfer window, although a move failed to materialise due to personal circumstances.
The prospect of playing in the Championship again could be too good of an opportunity to turn down for the Swedish midfielder, and there's no doubting that he would leave a sizeable void in the Sheffield Wednesday team if he was to depart ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
