David Villa returns to Atlético Madrid as adviser and board member

According to L'Équipe, David Villa has returned to Atlético Madrid as an adviser and member of the board.
The former Spain striker spent one season with Atlético, winning the Spanish title and reaching the 2014 Champions League final.
He remains the national team’s record scorer with 59 goals in 98 caps.
Villa said he was very happy to come back with new responsibilities, while keeping the same desire to help the club progress season after season.
The 2010 World Cup winner previously played for Valencia, Barcelona and New York City, lifting the Champions League with Barça in 2011.
He added that the club has grown in recent years, that he hopes to contribute to continued success, and that he is grateful to have been considered for the role. Villa ended his playing career in 2020.
