Dayot Upamecano’s (26) contract at Bayern Munich is running down. From January, the Frenchman will be permitted to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club.
The French defender is not willing to “make any concessions” to extend his stay at the Bavarian club, Florian Plettenberg understands. Having arrived back in 2021 from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig, he has gone on to establish himself as a regular at Bayern Munich, however, his future at the German side is now uncertain.
There is a long-term contract offer on the table for Upamecano, however, it is not an offer that aligns with the demands of the player’s entourage. It is up to Bayern Munich to decide whether they will up their offer.
The club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, is doing everything possible to reach an agreement, however, there are other big clubs lurking. Liverpool, who could lose their French defender, Ibrahima Konaté, on a free transfer too this summer, hold an interest in Upamecano, as per Plettenberg.
