The decision has been made at FC Bayern: Nicolas Jackson will leave the record champions in the summer. After reports to this effect had been circulating recently, sporting director Max Eberl has now officially confirmed the attacker’s departure from Munich

„We will not be exercising the purchase option for Nicolas Jackson,“ Eberl explained in the ZDF sports studio, thus providing clarity. Another loan is also not an issue at the moment, as was previously reported

Jackson’s time at FC Bayern ends after just one season. The Senegalese came on loan from Chelsea FC last summer and was supposed to act as a backup for Harry Kane

Late explosion of form comes too late

After a mixed start, the 24-year-old took some time to find his feet in Munich. In recent weeks, however, Jackson has shown a clear upturn in form and has increasingly come into his own

His final spurt in particular is remarkable: he has scored four goals in the last five Bundesliga games. In the spectacular 4:3 comeback against Mainz, he initiated the comeback with his goal to make it 1:3 and was thus instrumental in the victory

In total, Jackson has ten goals and four assists in 29 competitive matches – a decent record for a rotation player

Bayern opt for a different solution

Despite this development, those responsible have decided against a permanent signing, with the overall package of transfer fee and salary likely to have been the main deciding factor

Bayern are apparently planning another solution behind Harry Kane for the coming season – ideally with a player who fits better into the concept both in sporting and economic terms

For Jackson himself, the situation is clear, but his future remains open. His contract at Chelsea FC runs until 2033, so the Blues will now decide what to do with the striker

Whether he gets another chance in London or is loaned out or sold again is likely to be clarified in the summer transfer window

One thing is clear: even though Jackson impressed in the end, Bayern are looking for another solution in the center of attack in the long term.
