Arsenal will look to maintain their impressive form when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are six points behind Liverpool at the top of the table, having played a game more. City, on the other hand, are 12 points behind the league leaders.
There is still plenty of football left to be played, and Arsenal can close the gap with the Reds, and mount a nail-bitting title challenge.
City are unlikely to mount a challenge for the title, but they will close the gap to three points with Arsenal should they win on Sunday away from home.
Pep Guardiola’s side are undefeated in their last six Premier League games, and they have arrested the decline after a torrid run of form. From the end of October to mid-December, City won only once in 13 games in all competitions.
In that way, Arsenal are facing Man City at a time when they have gained a bit of momentum. That is why this fixture promises to be a cracker.
In the January window, the Gunners have yet to sign a new player, whereas City made some big-money signings to bolster their squad.
Putting everything into context, this fixture becomes crucial for the Gunners as they cannot afford further slip-ups.
One player who needs to step up for Arsenal is Declan Rice.
The 26-year-old midfielder has been a symbol of consistency for the Gunners. He has made 19 starts in the Premier League, and two more appearances have come from the bench. He has scored one goal and provided three assists.
While Rice has maintained a decent form for Arsenal, he has not been spectacular this season. The Gunners smashed their transfer record to sign him from West Ham United, and the expectations from him are very high.
He is a natural leader and sets high standards on the pitch. Compared to the previous season, one gets the impression that Rice can still do a lot more.
Arsenal need more from him as they go into one of the toughest games of the season.
Rice is seen as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and Conor Gallagher hailed him as “world-class” last year.
City’s midfield has not been the same without Rodri, and it presents a good opportunity for Rice to really dominate the game and secure three points for his side.
Arsenal vs Man City Tickets
Arsenal’s home game against Manchester City is arguably one of the biggest games of the season as a Category A fixture, with tickets at a premium. For Arsenal fans looking to attend the home game against Man City, or subsequent home games against West Ham and Chelsea, they can purchase Arsenal hospitality tickets and ensure a premium experience at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have won four of their last five games in all competitions. Despite missing several key players, the Gunners will fancy their chances of picking up all three points at home. 1-0.
