AC Milan are looking to hire a new head coach, and a decision will be made in the summer. So, candidates can still be added to the list, and it seems the club have added a fourth horse.

By all accounts, Sergio Conceicao’s time with the Rossoneri will end at the end of the season after a disappointing six-month spell. Reports have suggested he is still fighting for continuance, but it seems highly unlikely.

Antonio Conte, Roberto De Zerbi and Massimiliano Allegri lead the race to be the next Milan head coach, it seems, with the club focusing on an Italian hire, after recent international coaches have proved unsuccessful.

So, the news today about Vincenzo Italiano is not a huge shock. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bologna head coach now features alongside his Italian counterparts, and he explained the current situation as it stands to Sky Sport, via Milan News.

“Regarding the coach, to the names that are daily approached to the Milan bench, I would also add that of Vincenzo Italiano because he is a coach that the Rossoneri directors and Furlani like a lot.

“He’s definitely on the Rossoneri club’s list, I don’t know in what position but they like him at Via Aldo Rossi. And I think he deserves it for what he did at Fiorentina and Bologna. Bologna chose him to replace Thiago Motta, who was not easy to replace.

“He has a two-year contract with the Emiliani, the renewal talks haven’t started yet, I don’t think Italiano wants to start the season with only one year left on his contract. We’ll see if some big names like AC Milan and Roma will think of him.

“We’ll see if Paratici will also mention his name or if he will go for other profiles. However, the name of Italiano is liked at the Milan club.”
