Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is once again trying to extend his iron grip on the club, as he seeks foreign investment to avoid the demands to sell.

The Owls have effectively been up for sale for a while now, but with the current owner demanding at least £100 million for the sale of the club, suitable buyers have been put off from putting in a bid.

And, after meeting August's financial obligations by securing small foreign investments, Alan Nixon is reporting that Chansiri attempts to do the same for September, meaning that he will still hold all the cards regarding a potential takeover.

This all comes despite multiple fan protests and the boycotting of games following a torrid summer, which saw late payments and players subsequently walking away from their contracts, leaving Wednesday with even more debt and a threadbare squad.

Patrick McKenna, FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, is almost used to these underhanded tactics by Chansiri by now and admits that it is taking a toll on a lot of Wednesday fans.

McKenna told Football League World that he is "absolutely not surprised in the slightest" at the reports surrounding Dejphon Chansiri's hope to secure foreign investment to keep the club in his hands for the time being.

"Regarding Chansiri, instead of agreeing to a sale, he is yet again trying to get fresh investment. I'm not surprised in the slightest that he is resorting to such despicable tactics," McKenna said.

"That's why I don't get my hopes up for a takeover, because that man is absolutely impossible to engage with, and he never operates in good faith.

"He knows rightly that he has to sell the club that he has absolutely destroyed, and it's really affecting the mental health of a lot of Wednesday fans who cannot take the abject misery and stress caused by his diabolical leadership, or lack thereof."

It's been a miserable few months for the Wednesday fans, who feel that, whilst their protests are being supported by every other fanbase in England, it isn't getting them anywhere.

Ultimately, the debts of the club are insurmountable, and Chansiri would rather remain stubborn in his stance on the sale, rather than give the innocent fans of Sheffield Wednesday some much-needed release.

"Of course, he is trying to wriggle out of selling. He knows that the leverage of debt the club is in is something that stands against him in negotiations, so he is trying to lie again and pretend he can get money to show that he's in a strong position," McKenna continued.

"He's not fit to run the club, he doesn't have the money to run the club, and anyone would have the dignity and the grace to sell the club. But not Chansiri.

"So if this does scupper any hope of a takeover, then it does not surprise me, and he will continue to go down this route until the club is prised from his fingers.

"Disgraceful again from Chansiri."

Ultimately, the recent reports add to a long list of moral discrepancies committed by the Sheffield Wednesday owner in the space of a few months, and Owls fans are becoming desensitised to it all.

It's been difficult to get excited ahead of games now, with all three of their home outings in the Championship ending in a loss to nil after an overall lifeless affair due to a threadbare squad and a fed-up crowd.

And in the end, as long as Chansiri is securing these investments on a month-by-month basis, there's nothing much more Wednesday fans can do, other than to pray that the club survives until the end of the year, when the new government-led Independent Football Regulator comes into fruition.

By that point, perhaps the damage will already be done. But in the meantime, Wednesday fans will continue to protest against his detestable ownership and hope that a miracle can come.
