Alessandro Del Piero paid tribute to the current incumbent of his famous no.10 shirt, Kenan Yildiz, who became Juventus’s youngest ever goalscorer in the Champions League with his opening goal against PSV on Tuesday night.
Yildiz broke the record, previously held by Del Piero, which had stood for almost exactly 19 years.
Del Piero said that he was ‘really happy’ for the teenager in a post-match conversation live on Sky Sport Italia.
Del Piero was working as a pundit as part of the Italian network’s live coverage of the Juventus-PSV match on Tuesday night. He was able to have a quick conversation with Yildiz after full-time.
“A young guy just broke my record. I’m really happy for him,” the Juventus and Italy legend said.
He continued: “And I’m happy because he had a good game, because he started the season very well and did great last year as well, and also because he took the responsibility on his shoulders. I’m very happy for you Kenan.”
