The Rams are set to offer the Blackburn captain a lengthy, healthy deal to pry him away from Ewood Park
Lewis Travis seems to have one foot out the door of Ewood Park, as Derby County's interest has seen the Blackburn Rovers captain look to leave.
He could become the fifth man through the door at Pride Park this summer who played under current Rams head coach John Eustace at Blackburn, after Danny Batth, Andreas Weimann, Owen Beck and Dion Sanderson arrived earlier in the window.
However, whilst the lure of playing under Eustace may be strong, it seems that that may not be the only reason why Travis wants to depart Ewood Park this summer.
The 27-year-old has been at Blackburn since 2014, so it would take a lot for him to leave, you'd imagine. And Elliott Jackson has reported that a "life-changing" wage has been put on the table by Derby - one that Travis does not want to turn down.
The entire saga surrounding Travis' seemingly imminent departure this summer has been a messy one. There's been confusion surrounding contract offers and fee agreements, but the Lancashire Telegraph reports that there is "no dispute about the salaries on offer" regarding a move to Derby.
Ultimately, Travis could sign a contract at Pride Park, which could see the 27-year-old into his thirties, and despite being reported to be a top earner at Ewood Park, the money offered by the Rams has been described as "life-changing."
Despite a short nine-game loan stint at Ipswich Town during the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign, Travis has spent his entire senior career at Blackburn, which has spanned nearly a decade. He's made over 200 appearances for the club, and started in their 1-0 defeat on opening day this season against West Bromwich Albion.
Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire, following their EFL Cup defeat against Bradford City, that Travis can leave for the right price, but it seems that there appears to be no way back between the two parties, and Jackson reports that a deal must be struck for both parties to move on.
Derby have been stubborn so far in their pursuit of Travis, and the most they've tabled so far has been £1.5 million plus add-ons, which hasn't been enough for Rovers to accept.
The Lancashire Telegraph states that the asking price is unknown as of yet, but Blackburn may hold out for a similar fee to the one they received for Callum Brittain from Middlesbrough, which amounted to a suggested £3.5 million.
Losing their captain, who has played a major part in the side over a number of years, is a huge blow, especially to a divisional rival. However, a move looks likely to be made between now and September 1st's deadline.
But Blackburn held out until their valuation was met for Brittain, so you'd expect the same to be the case regarding a sale for Travis.
