The Rams duo have joked about James Beadle's goalkeeping efforts after Derby's 1-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday.

There are just seven games to go in the 2025/26 Championship campaign, and the fight for the final two play-off places is by no means over, with five sides still within a reasonable chance of finishing in either fifth or sixth place.

Hull City, Southampton, Wrexham, Derby Conty and Watford are separated by just 10 points as the second tier pauses for the final international break of the season, and there will be plenty of eyes on this battle in the coming weeks.

The Rams are in excellent form right now as the curtain closer nears, with their 1-0 victory over Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon their fourth successive win at home. Rhian Brewster scored the only goal of the game at Pride Park, in what was a vital three points for John Eustace's side.

Many in DE24 at the weekend will feel as though Derby deserved more than just the one goal, and two of their players have been joking on social media about the efforts of Blues goalkeeper James Beadle after he seemed to make a significant mistake during the game.

Derry Murkin and Rhian Brewster joke about James Beadle's goalkeeping efforts in Derby County win

It was Derry Murkin and Brewster who combined once again, as they had done against Blackburn Rovers last month, to help their side to all three points. However, Birmingham's shot-stopper may feel as though he should have done better on reflection.

The Rams' number 10 directed his header low, and Beadle failed to read the spin on the ball, allowing it to hit the back of the net despite a lack of pace on the effort. It's not the first mistake that he has made this season, and pressure is mounting on him between the posts currently.

However, Murkin was keen to make the first joke at the Birmingham man's expense, as he said on his Instagram story: "What's the keeper doing? @rhianbrewster 🤣"

Rhian Brewster is one of the most underrated signings of the season for Derby County

While the majority of focus this season has been on Patrick Agyemang and Carlton Morris for the Rams, there is no denying how much of a successful first year in black-and-white Brewster is having.

His header against Birmingham was his seventh goal for Derby in the Championship this season, and he is only two goals behind his total for his entire Sheffield United career - in which he scored nine times in 119 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old made the switch to Pride Park on a free transfer in the summer, and he has been able to maintain his fitness, while finally proving his threat in the final third after such an inconsistent time in front of goal for the Blades.
