There has been some concern about the condition of Theo Hernandez, but some reassurance has arrived from France head coach Didier Deschamps.

Theo was taken off at half-time during the comeback win over Como, replaced by Alex Jimenez. It seemed at first as though it was a tactical change, but it then emerged that it was because he had felt a pain in his calf that would have prevented him from playing at his best.

The fact that he then went off to France to be at the training camp with his national team has aroused some suspicion in the Italian media, with La Gazzetta dello Sport even describing it as an ‘insult’ to Milan.

It was reported by L’Equipe that Theo did not train with the rest of the France squad yesterday and he did solo work today too, but Deschamps spoke to the newspaper to give an update on his condition.

“Upamecano will carry out the session normally. Theo will do the first part individually, but he is going in the right direction,” he said (via MilanNews).

The hope for Sergio Conceicao is that Les Bleus manage him carefully and there are no further issues, given the tough run-in that the Rossoneri face. In the meantime, Theo’s contract situation continues to draw speculation.
