Destiny Udogie highlighted the team’s character after coming back from 2-0 down to take a deserved point after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Brighton.
We started well - in fact, in terms of possession and territory, we were always on top - but found ourselves behind after eight minutes after Yankuba Minteh’s breakaway goal and then 2-0 down on 31 minutes when Yasin Ayari fired home.
Richarlison rifled home from close range to get us back into it just before half-time and after knocking on the door - 44 touches in Brighton’s box - we finally found an equaliser when Mo Kudus’ whipped cross from the right was inches away from Lewis Dunk, maybe glanced by Joao Palhinha before cannoning home off Jan Paul van Hecke.
Destiny certainly took the game to the hosts with raid after raid down the left on his return to the starting line-up, his performance later described as ‘exceptional’ by Thomas Frank.
Speaking on our Review Show in the tunnel at the Amex, Destiny reflected: “I think we were a bit unlucky with the result but, at the same time, we take a good point away, so we have to look at the positives and keep building for next week.
“From the first minute, we had a good start. Obviously, we conceded two maybe poor goals, and the game turned a different way, but we showed a good character to come back. To be 2-0 down in an away game against a good team is never easy, so it is a good point today and we showed a strong character.
“We came here with the strong mind of keeping another clean sheet, but sometimes football doesn’t go the way you want, but at the same time, we showed strength as a team, and we’ll keep going.”
As for his performance, he added: “I feel good, after the work building my fitness back up, getting back some minutes, it feels good. I just try to help the team and give my best.”
