Di Francesco: ‘Fair result, no game after Siebert’s red card’ in Milan 3-0 Lecce | OneFootball

Eusebio Di Francesco did not deny the fact that Milan were worthy victors in their 3-0 victory over Lecce in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night, and admits that ‘there was no game’ to be played after Jamil Siebert’s early sending off.

Goals from Santiago Gimenez, Christopher Nkunku and Christian Pulisic handed Milan a 3-0 win over Lecce in the second round of the Coppa Italia in San Siro on Tuesday night. Their work was made easier after the 18th-minute red card shown to Siebert.

Di Francesco took part of the responsibility for Lecce’s loss, given that he made 10 changes to his side for the cup clash, but admits that the game became impossible after Siebert’s red card.

“It was the fair result,” Di Francesco told Italia 1 after full-time.

“We have to be honest, there was no game after that (referring to Siebert’s sending off). The approach wasn’t great, I changed a lot of players to see how they would work. I find it difficult to judge our game, but I told the boys that I want to see a different type of performance on Sunday.”

Di Francesco also fielded questions about Milan loanee Francesco Camarda: “He was a bit isolated today,” he admitted.

“We weren’t good at intercepting and resetting. He did what he could do. I kept him on the pitch until the end, because I wanted to see how other players did, like Gorter, since the result was already compromised.”
