The London is Blue podcast were especially frustrated about Saturday’s result because they had flown across the Atlantic to be there, and see Chelsea fumble a winning position at home once again.

As presenter Nick Verlaney said, it continued a very obvious trend which has been our problem all season – we don’t play 90 minute matches.

Chelsea can’t play 90 minute performance and keep letting points slip

Co-presenter Dan Dormer backed that up with a stat which proves the point clearly:

“Two stats of notes here would be that, one: Chelsea have dropped 11 points from winning positions in home Premier League matches this season, which is four more than any other side. And then, two: Chelsea are as close to 16th placed Leeds as they are to 3rd placed Villa in terms of points. Which is diabolical.”

Nick then points out that 16th placed Leeds “just whupped our ass.”

We take on Bournemouth tomorrow night – it’s a home game and they’re in terrible form. But could we honestly say we’re confident? Not really. Time and again, this team have shown they’re unreliable even when they’re in good form.

In other news…

Axel Disasi remains a player in Chelsea’s now much reduced bomb squad, and one they would love to shift in January. There is talk of Leeds interest – but it remains to be seen whether anything will come of it.

Enzo Maresca spoke about Jorrel Hato in his press conference today. The backup left back is needed to step up now that Marc Cucurella has hurt his hamstring, but the Dutchman has also picked up a knock. It’s another frustrating moment from a frustrating first season for him at Chelsea.
