Didier Deschamps returned to oversee a light France session in Waltham on Saturday, with Marcus Thuram absent and William Saliba managed. According to L'Équipe, 17 players worked the day after the 4-1 win over Norway.
There was no practice game against New England Revolution youngsters this time. The squad had a half-day with their families before taking to the pitch.
Five players, Dembélé, Doué, Olise, Lacroix and Saliba, limited themselves to a gentle jog. The rest, Samba, Risser, Gusto, Digne, L.Hernandez, Cherki, Rabiot, Barcola and Mateta, worked through a passing warm-up.
The main block featured a six against six, Risser, Gusto, Cherki, Barcola, Zaïre-Emery and L.Hernandez facing Samba, Rabiot, Mateta, Konaté, Akliouche and Digne. Cherki’s side won 9-6, he struck a hat-trick and kept the session lively, protesting a penalty and geeing up Robin Risser.
Deschamps spent time in discussion with Maxence Lacroix, then later with Warren Zaïre-Emery. Saliba followed his jog with some higher-intensity runs. Thuram, managing a calf issue, and Ngolo Kanté, neither of whom featured in that match, stayed indoors.
