After naming his 26-man France squad for the World Cup, which runs 11 June-19 July, Didier Deschamps did not rule out managing a foreign national team once his tenure ends.
According to L'Équipe, the question arose during Thursday evening’s post-announcement press conference when an Italian journalist asked about his future, and Deschamps smiled as he noted he was refreshing his Italian.
Pressed on whether that could mean Italy or another national side, he reverted to his customary response on the subject.
He added that he is available and that he does not plan to retire after the tournament.
He had previously suggested it would be difficult to coach any team other than France, a view he no longer holds.
