Didier Deschamps to reveal 2026 World Cup squad on TF1 tonight | OneFootball

Didier Deschamps will name his 26-man France squad for the 2026 World Cup on TF1’s 20:00 news this evening. According to L'Équipe, TF1 will not broadcast the tournament, with M6 showing 54 matches free-to-air and beIN Sports carrying all 104.

Since Brazil 2014, the head coach has usually revealed his lists on Gilles Bouleau’s 20:00 set. The sole exception came before Euro 2021, when TF1 and M6 shared rights and a neutral venue was chosen.

In 2016, ahead of the home Euros, he was pressed on Franck Ribéry’s absence despite talk the winger had considered returning. Deschamps said he had not contemplated recalling him, praising Ribéry’s past contribution and stressing faith in others.

By 2018, TF1 was using its now familiar live player duplex, first seen in 2010, with Corentin Tolisso reacting on air before Deschamps underlined his trust in the Bayern Munich midfielder. The coach may again have to address Tolisso this evening, although likely not for the same reasons.

In 2021, the announcement moved to the Pullman Tour Eiffel, presented by Nathalie Iannetta for TF1 and Marie Portolano for M6. The night brought the headline return of Karim Benzema after five and a half years away, albeit widely leaked earlier.

Before Qatar 2022, a light exchange saw Bouleau ask about Deschamps’s future and the coach quip about the presenter’s own longevity, before insisting results would dictate any decision. In 2023, Bouleau later reflected that such a political retort would not have come early in Deschamps’s tenure.

The biggest shock did not come with a list. On 8 January 2025, during TF1’s lunchtime bulletin with Marie-Sophie Lacarrau and alongside Brigitte Macron, Deschamps said he was contracted to 2026 and that it would end then, an unscripted admission that surprised both.
