Diego Nunes bid farewell to Benfica on Saturday with a heartfelt message on social media. According to Glorioso 1904, the Brazilian winger is returning to Palma, third in the Spanish league regular season, after four seasons.
During his Benfica stint he made 132 appearances, scored 69 goals and won seven trophies. His haul comprised two National Championships, two Portuguese Cups, one League Cup and one Super Cup.
His Instagram message reflected on arriving at a club of Benfica’s size, the demands involved and the difficulties the group faced. The emphasis was on unity across the squad.
Nunes praised team-mates as among the best of his career and spoke of pulling together to leave a legacy at the club.
His farewell also carried a plea to team-mates to stay firm and united, a belief that together they would be unbeatable and unbreakable. He ended with collective thanks, avoiding individual names to keep it fair to everyone involved.
