Ribas, a former Flamengo captain and long-time friend, shared a photo of the quartet with their wives and wrote a heartfelt message. His post said the family will be missed and wished them victories, joy, challenges and unity in their next chapter.

Monaco announced the appointment on 28 May, handing Filipe Luís a deal through June 2028 and a first coaching role outside Brazil. He has been out of work since being dismissed by Flamengo in March 2026.

He will replace Sébastien Pocognoli, the Belgian who left at the end of the season after seven months in charge. Adi Hütter had been head coach since 2023 before that.

Monaco ended the 25/26 campaign seventh in Ligue 1, winning 16 of 34 league matches to reach the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds. They exited the Champions League round of 16 play-offs to PSG and the French Cup last 16 to Strasbourg.
