Celtic have been linked with a move for Uruguayan international Diego Rossi, a player well known to Wilfried Nancy, as he of course was one of the Frenchman’s star players at Columbus Crew.
Diego Rossi is described as an attacking midfielder, but he can also play across the front three, such is his ability, and is very much a player that would enhance our side.
Rossi has played the majority of his career on the other side of the Atlantic, starting his career with Penarol in his native Uruguay, before making his name in the North of America with MLS sides Los Angles FC and current side Columbus Crew.

He also had a spell in Europe with Fenerbahce sandwiched in between his time in the MLS, so he’s certainly got a wealth of experience and is undoubtedly what we would describe as a ‘first team ready’ player.
The 27 year old’s career record of 127 goals in 364 games is mighty impressive, especially for a player who isn’t considered as a natural striker. Rossi also boasts an equally as impressive stats record at Columbus Crew, which currently stands at 72.
As well as his goalscoring contributions, the Uruguayan posses great pace and agility, making him very much a player we should be looking to bring aboard. He would undoubtedly add an extra much needed dimension to our squad.

Rossi is rated in the £8 million bracket, so he’s clearly a player within our price range. It’s all down to the club however, but in my opinion he’s a player we should be looking to recruit in the upcoming window.
We badly need a goalscorer and goal creator in our ranks, and in Rossi we would be getting both of those qualities. If we want to improve, then the Uruguayan is a player we should be all over.

Wilfried Nancy was talking yesterday about the need to start at Celtic as earlier as possible in order to evaluate his squad ahead of the January window. After four punishing defeats the Frenchman has certainly had a baptism of fire and carries the scars to prove it. He will however have a much better idea on what he needs to do in the January transfer window and hopefully Rossi is high on his list of priorities.
