Diego Simeone sends message to Atlético over Barcelona-linked Julián Alvarez | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has made clear to the club’s board that he does not want Julián Alvarez at his disposal for next season as things stand.

This comes with the Argentine tactician keen only to have players who are 100% committed to the cause in his squad.

Frontman Alvarez has of course made public his desire to bring a close to the Atlético chapter of his career this summer, amid a concerted transfer push on the part of Barcelona.

It now remains to be seen if the Camp Nou brass stump up the required sum to convince their Metropolitano counterparts of the merits of a sale.

As alluded to above, though, one individual in Spain’s capital who already appears to have Alvarez in his rearview mirror is none other than Diego Simeone.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘The Atlético coach does not want a player in his squad who is not one hundred per cent committed. After Julián’s words asking for his sale, if there was any possibility that Cholo would back down, his position is now inflexible.’
