In the shootout, Vegetti saw Vasco’s first kick saved by Fábio, before Léo Jardim kept out two efforts to turn the tide. Puma Rodríguez then converted the decisive penalty.

Souza filmed his son in tears after Puma Rodríguez’s decisive kick and shared the clip with supporters.

The former forward represented Vasco in 2011 and 2012 and was part of the team that won the Copa do Brasil in 2011, the club’s last major title.

Vasco face Corinthians in the final, with the first match on Wednesday at 21:30 at Neo Quimica Arena.
