Diniz looks to Cruzeiro success story to revive Brenner at Vasco | OneFootball

Fernando Diniz urged calm after Vasco’s draw with Chapecoense, defending Brenner, who missed three clear chances in only his second game and was targeted by the stands.

According to PaponaColina, the coach cited Cruzeiro’s 2025 example, drawing a parallel with Kaio Jorge, who was booed after a decisive penalty miss in 2024. He said he was with the forward late in 2024 when the goals began to come, then an injury intervened before Jorge became the standout of the 2025 Brasileiro.

Diniz said such dips are common and that Brenner needs rhythm. He noted the striker put himself forward despite not being at peak fitness, and that the errors were technical in a facet where he is usually clinical.

Vasco intend to mirror that recovery process, believing that with minutes and backing Brenner can rediscover his scoring touch without rushing judgement.

Diniz also confirmed Claudio Spinelli is arriving from Independiente Del Valle. He said Spinelli will help cover the absences of Rayan and Vegetti, adding the club moved well in the market to bring in two good players.
