Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé’s entourage (27) are reportedly at odds over the Spanish club’s target date for their star striker’s return from injury, according to Cadena Ser.

After being diagnosed with a sprained left knee, Mbappé was absent from Real Madrid’s defeat to Getafe (0-1) last weekend. A withdrawal expected by Los Merengues, who hope to have their number 10 back in time for the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Manchester City on 17th March.

However, this would not be to the liking of the Frenchman’s relatives, who claim that his injury is more serious than reported. The use of the term ‘sprain’ in the club’s statement would therefore refer to the term used in the medical report. “The player’s left posterior cruciate ligament is torn,” explained Antón Meana, journalist at the Iberian media outlet.

A diagnosis that could force Mbappé to stay off the pitch for longer than his club would have wished. Because with just 100 days to go until the kick-off of the 2026 World Cup, the player should not take any risks that could jeopardise his participation in the prestigious competition.
