Leeds United expect to confirm free agent Harry Wilson as their first summer addition shortly, while key Premier League rivals move quickly in the market. Everton are assessing Djed Spence, Ipswich are closing on Emersonn and Brentford are in talks for Callum Wilson.

Leeds agreed terms with Wilson more than a week ago and, despite the delay, nothing is thought to have gone wrong. He is due to join Daniel Farke’s squad for 2026/27 as Elland Road chiefs continue to recruit.

Talks have taken place with free agent Julian Brandt and bids above £20m for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles have been rejected.

According to The Athletic, former Leeds loanee Spence is on Everton’s right-back shortlist after Seamus Coleman’s exit, with Nathan Patterson drawing interest. His 2023 Leeds loan ended in January after seven games, and he featured in England’s 3-2 World Cup last-16 win over Mexico at the Azteca. Arsenal’s Ben White is also admired on Merseyside.

Sky Sports reports that Ipswich are close to signing Toulouse striker Emersonn in a €31 million (£26.6m) deal including add-ons, with a medical planned. Hull were interested but are set to miss out. The 21-year-old recorded six goals and two assists in 27 Ligue 1 games last season.

According to BBC Sport, Callum Wilson, 34, is in advanced talks over a 12-month move to Brentford. He left relegated West Ham after his contract expired, and would add competition up front. Former Leeds loanee Jaidon Anthony is also due to join after a £20m agreement with Burnley, with Keith Andrews’ side set to visit Elland Road on Saturday 29 August.
