In his first press conference as an Eintracht Frankfurt player, Ritsu Dōan expressed his delight at joining the Hessen club and his experiences in the city to date.

“I've been in Frankfurt for a few days now and have been very well received, both by the coaching staff and my teammates. Yesterday, I also met the fans for the first time. I really like it here,” he said.

The Japanese star gave a detailed run through of his capabilities and the role Mario Götze played in attracting him to Frankfurt - the duo previously played at PSV Eindhoven together.

"My strengths lie in my left foot, and I'm happy that I've been able to tap into my potential more and more recently. I'm looking forward to showing what I can do on the pitch.

"Mario Götze kept saying to me, 'I'm waiting for you, when are you finally coming?'. Our interaction was already very good in Eindhoven, so I'm looking forward to playing with him again.

“I'm trying to connect with my new teammates on the pitch as quickly as possible. I trained fully in Freiburg and am in good shape. That's why it was easy for me to get back into training here,” he explained.

The Hessen state club's first competitive fixture of the 2025/26 season sees them take on sixth-tier opponents FV Engers 07 in the first round of the DfB-Pokal this Sunday at 12pm (CET).
