Done Deal: Bologna secure Amondarain despite Nottingham Forest interest | OneFootball

Bologna have finally reached a full agreement with both Estudiantes and midfielder Mikel Amondarain, claims Fabrizio Romano, despite fresh interest from Nottingham Forest.

The negotiations for the player had been dragging on for a few weeks, although the Rossoblu had also looked at other alternatives including Gustavo Puerta of Racing Santander.

Nottingham Forest had made an approach over the last couple of days to intercept the talks, but it seems that spurred Bologna into action.

“We are waiting for the response from Estudiantes,” Bologna director Claudio Fenucci had told Sky Sport Italia this week.

“He is certainly our primary objective for the midfield, but not the only one.”

It is reported the fee is in the region of €10m, after the first €8m bid was rejected.

Transfer pundit Romano claims a verbal agreement has now been reached with both Estudiantes for the transfer, and Amondarain for personal terms.

He should be flying in for his medical tests and to sign the contract this weekend.

The 21-year-old talent is under contract with Estudiantes until the end of December 2028, having come up through their youth academy to join the main squad last year.
