After a scintillating fixture, Borussia Dortmund secured a vital win in Hoffenheim as they climbed to sixth in the standings. The Black and Yellows squandered their lead twice before Waldemar Anton's 95th minute strike decided the affair.

Seriously Guirassy put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute with VAR overruling the infield offside decision. The Guinea international scored a league-high ten goals since the turn of the year. However, he missed the chance to add to his tally from penalty-kick. This time around, penalty specialist Oliver Baumann denied Dortmund”s top-scorer.

Hoffenheim also denied a goal when Anton Stach's thumping strike ruled out for an earlier offside call. However, they did find an equaliser at the hour mark with Adam Hložek's deflected shot beating Gregor Kobel in Dortmund’s goal.

Last season’s Champions League finalists regained their lead fifteen minutes before time. Daniel Svensson, who also played a part in Guirassy's opener, provided a first time cross for Julian Brandt. The midfielder scored his fourth league goal of the season to put Niko Kovac's side in front.

They had to do it all over again when Pavel Kadeřábek made it 2-2 at the start of injury-time, however. Anton, who had a nervy moment before Hoffenheim's equaliser, scored a crucial goal to revive Dortmund’s Champions League dream.

The teams played nearly 15 minutes after the end of regular time, but the hosts failed to find another route into the game. Instead, there were four yellow cards and a sending off for Hoffe's coaching staff member in the injury-time.

Dortmund are now in sixth with only three games left to play before the end of the campaign. With their excellent form of collecting 13 points from the last five games, they have every reason to hope for a Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Hoffenheim are only five points ahead of the relegation playoff spot.
