Karim Adeyemi sparked controversy during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday after reacting angrily to being substituted by his coach, Niko Kovac.

The German international attempted to storm straight down the tunnel, but was stopped by sporting director Sebastian Kehl, who directed him back to the substitutes' bench.

Kehl later confirmed that Adeyemi would face a fine for his actions, and Bild now reports that the BVB sporting director is set to meet with managing director for sport Lars Ricken and CEO Carsten Cramer in the near future to discuss the incident and the fine.

This is not the first time Adeyemi has made headlines for the wrong reasons. Just a month ago, he was issued a penal order and fined €450,000 for illegal weapons possession.

At the time of that incident, Dortmund were negotiating a contract extension with Adeyemi beyond 2027, but his recent controversies have certainly not strengthened his negotiating position.

Bild even suggests that the club may now need to consider whether a summer sale would be in the best interests of all parties.
