After the defeat against Cagliari, Roma has no time to rest and must immediately look ahead.
On the horizon are matches against Celtic, Como, and Juventus. In ten days, the Giallorossi will face three crucial tests that could shape their respective Europa League and Serie A campaigns.
Given the Roman side’s enormous offensive problems, Gian Piero Gasperini will undoubtedly be relieved to learn of Dovbyk’s recovery.
According to Filippo Biafora, the Ukrainian striker has recovered from the injury to his rectus femoris tendon that forced him to sit out for about a month.
The former Girona player, barring any unforeseen circumstances, should at least earn a call-up for Monday, December 15th’s match against Como.
The hope, however, is to be able to rely on him and give him at least a snippet of the game. Ferguson continues to struggle, and the decision to play without a true central striker has never fully paid off. Dovbyk has made a partial return to the group, and in the coming days it will be clear whether the Ukraine national team’s number 9 will complete the full training sessions with his teammates.
Taking the field on Monday, Roma will have a week to fully recover him and launch him into the match against Cesc Fabregas’ Como.
In addition to the striker’s recovery, Gian Piero Gasperini is also happy about Wesley’s return. The Brazilian was left out of the squad as a precaution for the match against Cagliari and will be available for the team starting with the trip to Glasgow on Thursday at 9:00 PM.
