Dragon Ball Z voice actors react to Arrascaeta and BH celebration | OneFootball

Dragon Ball Z voice actors in Brazil have applauded Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique after the Flamengo pair revived the anime-inspired fusion pose during the 4-1 win over Independiente Medellín in the Libertadores at the Maracanã on Thursday.

The celebration echoed one popular in Gabigol’s early seasons at the club. The duo mimicked the Metamoru fusion from Dragon Ball Z, the final step of a technique by Trunks and Goten that, if perfectly synchronised, unites them in one body for 30 minutes.

According to Globo.com, three São Paulo-based voice actors, all football fans, shared their reactions. Mauro Castro, 64, who voices King Vegeta and supports Flamengo, said he loved seeing Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique pay homage and is a big admirer of both.

Well Lima, 58, Dragon Ball’s dubbing director in Brazil and the voice of Majin Boo, is a Corinthians supporter. He recalled Garro and Romero celebrating with the same move and urged Yuri Alberto to join Garro now that Romero has gone to Boca Juniors, joking in Majin Boo’s voice that he would turn them into chocolate.

Wendel Bezerra, 51, the voice of Goku and a São Paulo fan, welcomed the tribute and made a light Fla-Flu pun about a potential mix-up. He said it is heartening that Dragon Ball and dubbing are part of many people’s youth and of Brazilian culture, and he called on São Paulo’s players to embrace the celebrations, even invoking a Genki Dama in pursuit of a title.

Many in today’s playing generation grew up with the anime and have taken it into goal celebrations. The Kamehameha has also featured, and Brazilian clubs paid tribute after creator Akira Toriyama died in 2024.
