San Diego FC's story board inaugural MLS season continues to write one narrative after the other, as Mikey Varas' troops added a second goal before the break to extend their lead in Chicago.
With a chance to end atop the Western Conference come season's end, star winger Anders Dreyer could be in line for his own season to remember, with the Danish international completing his brace on the night in the final minutes of the first half.
The former RSC Anderlecht star converted from close range after Mexican icon Chucky Lozano slid a ball across the goal face for Dreyer to tap in with ease.
And with that, the diminutive Dane not only sits on 11 goals and 15 assists for the year in his first-ever MLS campaign, but he now becomes just the third debutant player in league history to score at least 10 goals and register at least 11 assists, joining a short list alongside Sebastian Giovinco and Darwin Quintero.
While so much talk surrounds the possibility of Lionel Messi coming away with MVP honors, Dreyer's fantastic first season, and SDFC's push in the West, unquestionably puts him in the same conversation.
