Duda Sampaio on Corinthians’ Derby display and next match

On the night of this Monday (10), Corinthians went to Arena Barueri to face Palmeiras in a derby valid for the 12th round of the first phase of the Paulista Women's Championship and ended up with a goalless draw. After the match, midfielder Duda Sampaio analyzed the team's performance and pointed out the difficulties imposed by the rival.

“I believe it was a good game, we knew we were already qualified, so we came here to win, knowing how important derbies are and to put into practice some changes we made in our playing style. I think it's a lesson, we had some chances we didn't convert, they had theirs too, but it was a very interesting game in terms of both teams playing. Now it's about preparing well for the next two games, but already thinking about the knockout stage, which is the most important.”, she began.

“I think it was a very tough game, maybe we had the clearest chances, one ball hit the post. I think it's a lesson too, it's a game where we were already qualified, so we pushed forward to try new things, to be well prepared for the knockout stage.”, Duda continued in the mixed zone.

The number 27 also spoke about the importance of returning to play after a period of absence from Corinthians. The midfielder also talked about the difficulties she encountered in creating opportunities during her time on the field.

“And I think, in general, it's important to be back, because I want to play, I want to play the next game too, so we can really get back. My last game was in the Libertadores final, so that's good too, to get this rhythm back here at Corinthians.”, she commented.

“At the moment I came in, there were only a few chances. As I said, we're training new things and I had to defend really well too, which highlights the quality of our midfield. When we don't play, it directly affects the chances created. But we have to make the most of it, there are two more games for us to have the courage to do what we set out to do. In terms of creating, especially, we're going to take more risks so we can be well prepared.”, Duda Sampaio continued.

The Corinthians midfielder also looked ahead to the team's sequence in the season. Corinthians will face Ferroviária and the number 27 pointed out that it will be a tough match, recalling previous encounters with the opponents.

“The way they're going to play, I don't think we can know, it will depend a lot on them, but I think their playing style will be similar. We've already seen the new coach's work, what he put into practice, it was a very tough game. So I believe he'll keep that up and now it's about working on the teams, so we can play a good game there and come away with the three points.”

After facing Palmeiras away from home in the Paulista Women's Championship, the Alvinegro remains focused on the state competition. Next Thursday (13), at 6:00 PM (Brasília time), the Brabas will face Ferroviária at Arena Fonte Luminosa, for the 13th and penultimate round of the tournament.
