Tactical fouls have long been a hallmark of Italian football, reflecting a pragmatic approach.

Indeed, sometimes stopping an opponent’s momentum can be just as crucial as scoring.

Meanwhile, in Serie A, players often view committing a calculated foul as a smart move rather than purely unsporting behavior.

Although it’s not always praised by fans, many accept it as a necessary part of the game.

Italian teams have become infamous for disciplined defending and tactical fouling, gaining notoriety in European football.

However, that’s become a common practice in almost every league.

Furthermore, national teams like Argentina or Italy often embrace this unpopular approach.

As the old saying goes: “Defenses win titles, not attacks.”

On the other hand, Dumfries has learned to accept this concept after spending four years at San Siro.

As Niccolo Machiavelli once said: ‘The end justifies the means.” Italian clubs have embodied this philosphy.

“Other national teams have an advantage over the Netherlands,” Denzel Dumfries admitted.

“In this sense, I can think outside the box and guarantee the next step in this growth process.

“Argentina, for example, does everything to win. They leave nothing to chance.

“We might be a bit too orderly, but that’s part of the game.

“It’s not the most important thing, but it could give us an extra percentage of success.

“Pushing the game to the limit, committing that foul to stop the attack. At Inter, we’re masters at this,” Dumfries laughed.

“Francesco Acerbi and Lautaro Martínez don’t hesitate to foul here and there to secure victory.
