Dzsenifer Marozsán has announced her retirement at 34, drawing a line under a glittering career that took her from Lyon to Al-Qadsiah. The Budapest-born Germany midfielder confirmed the decision on Tuesday.

Lyon said in a message that she elevated the sport and thanked her for wearing the club’s colours with passion, calling her a legend.

Marozsán left Lyon in 2025 and spent last season with Saudi side Al-Qadsiah. She had starred for Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, now called OL Lyonnes, from 2016 to 2025, with a seven-month loan at OL Reign in 2021.

With Germany, she won Euro 2013, then Olympic gold at the Rio 2016 football tournament.

Her Lyon honours include eight French league titles, four French Cups and five Champions Leagues, plus a sixth secured earlier with Frankfurt.

In Lyon colours she made 234 appearances and scored 66 goals, ranking 11th for matches played in the club’s history. She will be remembered as one of Lyon’s greatest players.
