Bayern Munich ended their season by beating Stuttgart 3-0 in Berlin to lift the DFB-Pokal, with Harry Kane central to a 21st cup triumph. Sporting chief Max Eberl also said he was surprised by comments from Uli Hoeneß as he reflected on the campaign.
According to BuLi News, Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth felt his side could leave with heads held high. He said they had a good first half but lost the second, that the tempo told after the break and that Kane effectively decided the contest.
Wohlgemuth played down questions about José Mourinho’s invitation, pointing out there were plenty of celebrities present. He added that Stuttgart want to move quickly to extend Deniz Undav’s deal, ideally as soon as possible, maybe even before the World Cup.
Eberl said Bayern had gone after all three trophies. He noted they won the league convincingly, and that the unpredictability of a final made this success feel especially meaningful.
He praised Kane for ending his long wait for honours since arriving in Munich. He said the captain is now collecting trophies and merits them, and that Bayern are delighted to have him.
Addressing Hoeneß, Eberl said the remarks caught him off guard, though he intends simply to get on with his job and judge the season by performances. He added they are in regular contact and that the priority on the night was celebrating.
