Eddie Howe has been speaking about Alexander Isak on Saturday.

The Newcastle United Head Coach talking publicly about the Sweden international for the first time since the headlines this week, media claims that the striker is ‘exploring’ the possibility of potentially moving to another club.

Eddie Howe and a 30 man NUFC squad are in Singapore, set to face Arsenal on Sunday in their next pre-season friendly.

The subject of Alexander Isak was always going to be top of the agenda for the media at this pre-match press conference and so it proved.

Eddie Howe speaking about the Alexander Isak situation at his pre-Arsenal press conference – 26 July 2025:

“Of course there are things going on behind the scenes….

“Conversations though that happen between Alex and myself, between Alex and the club, will stay private.

“But whatever happens, it has to be for the best of this football club.

“I certainly hope he stays.

“But it is football, so who knows what the future may bring.

“There are no contract talks taking place.

“That would be for a later date potentially.”

“Alex is very popular in the dressing room.

“We would love him to continue his journey at Newcastle.

“He is currently in Newcastle getting his injury assessed.

“Hopefully he will be back soon and playing in the black and white shirt.

“That is what we want to see.”
